Rapist on the run from HMP Leyhill open prison

A convicted rapist who escaped from an open prison in South Gloucestershire has been arrested, police have said.

Daniel Thompson had been imprisoned at HMP Leyhill, near Bristol, after breaching a court order after serving a 10-year sentence for rape.

The 34-year-old was last seen at the jail at 11:45 BST on Friday and failed to appear at roll call at 16:45 BST.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed Thompson had been arrested and was in police custody.
