A firefighter has been killed after two boats collided during a training exercise in a marina.

The 35-year-old, who worked for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, died after the crash in Neyland Marina, Pembrokeshire, at about 11:30 BST.

Dyfed-Powys Police said his family have been informed and were being supported by officers.

The force added: “Our thoughts go out to the family and to his colleagues in the fire and rescue service.”

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch has been notified and will work alongside police to establish the cause of the accident.

A Coastguard spokesman said it was asked to assist “following a report that two fire rescue vessels had collided while on exercise near Neyland in the Milford Haven area”.
